Description
This course is creates a strong foundation for organisations wanting to develop
an outcomes focus. It introduces the concepts of outcomes and outcome indicators
and looks at what they are and how to use them. It introduces the CES planning
triangle as a tool to aid the development of outcomes

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course learners will be able to:
• Explain the difference between outcomes and outputs
• Understand the link between aims and outcomes
• Know how to make sure the organisation does what it aims
to do
• Know how to ensure resources are well used on achieving
aims and that activities meet your overall aims.

Quality Assurance, what is it?
So why is quality important and why do you need to prove that what you do
is quality, especially in these days of procurement and commissioning?
There are so many quality assurance schemes available, which one is the right
one for your organisation? Which one do you have the time and the capacity
to complete?
Areas covered include:
• Exploration of what QA schemes available.
• A look at a number of quality schemes including
PQASSO and Quality First, as well as some more specialist ones.
• How different schemes might suit different organisations.
Learning Outcomes
• Knowledge of several different QA systems
• Understanding of what is required by one general and one
sector specific QA system

Introduction to PQASSO
PQASSO provides a flexible, step-by-step approach to working out what your
organisation is doing well and what could be improved.
By using the self-assessment work pack, the system
helps you to set priorities for your organisation's future and improve
your organisation's performance.
Areas covered include:
• Introduction to the concepts of quality assurance
and the main standards within PQASSO.
• Introduction to the basic steps required to implement
the system.

Implementing PQASSO
PQASSO is the Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations.
This course covers all aspects of introducing and implementing PQASSO through
self-assessment within an organisation. The system is designed to support
participants in developing a plan for how to implement quality within their
organisation, and how to involve all the key stakeholders in the process.
Areas covered Include:
• The next steps for an organisation should they wish to
apply for the PQASSO Quality Mark.
• An understanding of the knowledge and skills required
to implement PQASSO through self-assessment within their organisations.

Whilst this course provides an overview of the PQASSO Quality Mark service,
it is not a course in how to prepare for a PQASSO Quality Mark peer review.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the two days participants will have:
• developed their understanding of PQASSO and the self-assessment
process
• considered the necessary steps for the successful implementation
of PQASSO within their organisations
• discussed the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders
and considered ways of getting them involved in the process
• identified the key elements to be included in the planning
process for implementing PQASSO within their organisation
• a better understanding of the new PQASSO Quality Mark
service.
