into Management
Description
This course is designed as an introduction to management covering all of the
main areas such as recruitment and selection, marketing, finance and planning.
The aim is to provide delegates with a firm grounding to meet their current
needs and provide a platform for further training.
Extra Information
Offered as either a 3.5 day course or over 7 half days with an optional additional
half day for portfolio building. The course dates may be offered over a period
of 5-6 weeks – not necessarily consecutively. This course is specifically
for new managers, people who hope to move into management and management committee
members. The course will be accredited by Open College Network at level
3. Learners will do some formative work on the course, but will be expected
to do additional work to produce a portfolio showing how they have implemented
the ideas from the course. Holistic Partnership Limited aim to deliver
this course with two tutors, to offer students maximum support throughout
the course.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course learners will be able to:
• Discuss and evaluate the importance of good practice in
recruitment, selection and training of staff
• Understand how to create an effective team
• Identify the importance of marketing and describe promotional
and advertising strategies.
• Recognise the need for different types of planning within
their organisation.

Writing a Funding Application
Description
This is a single credit, level 2 course, and is intended to give people a
sound understanding of how to write funding applications. It is targeted at
those wishing to write applications for small funders rather than Big Lottery
grants although it will provide the under pinning knowledge for writing larger
applications.
Areas covered Include:
• What do funders want?
• What evidence do you have to support your application?
• Calculating project costs
• Monitoring and evaluation.
